Danbury Man Killed After Becoming Trapped Under Debris In Partial Barn Collapse

A Danbury man was killed after being trapped under debris during a partial barn collapse, said the Connecticut State Police.

The incident took place around 8:40 a.m., Thursday, April 24, when a barn that was being worked on began to collapse, with workers inside at 81 Litchfield Turnpike in Bethany, said the state police.

When state troopers arrived on the scene they found Joister Pacheco-Attaide, 38, Danbury, trapped under the debris, state police said.

EMS was able to gain access to Pacheco-Attaide with the assistance of the fire personnel and determined he had died from his injuries, state police said.

According to state police, Pacheco-Attaide was on site doing work on the barn with fellow contractors when the collapse occurred.  

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner responded to investigate the death, along with OSHA to investigate the workplace injury/incident. 

The remainder of the structure was later knocked down and made safe. 

This incident remains under Investigation with the assistance of OSHA and town building officials.
